5 Ways To Use Setting Powder, According to a Makeup Artist

Setting powder is the unsung hero of makeup routines, ensuring your flawless look lasts from dawn till dusk. But Hydra Setting Powder goes beyond just basic makeup setting. Its finely milled texture not only locks in your makeup but also offers a range of benefits that elevate your look.

Why Set Your Makeup?

Picture this: You've spent time perfecting your under-eye concealer and foundation, only to find creases and shine disrupting your flawless finish midday. Setting powder is your solution. By lightly dusting RMS Hydra Setting Powder over your makeup, especially under the eyes and across the T-zone, you create a smooth, crease-free canvas that withstands blinking and controls unwanted shine for up to 8 hours.

The Hydra Setting Powder Difference

Most setting powders are made to be used on models being photographed to prevent flashback. This leaves the formulas so mattifying that when you use them your skin ends up looking flat and dull. If you know RMS, then you know our philosophy is to leave skin looking even better than it started—healthy, dewy, and radiant. So, when it came time to update our setting powder, we wanted to have all the benefits of taking away extra shine while still leaving the natural glow of the skin so it still looked fresh and vibrant.

That's where HerbalHydrate comes in. An innovative complex of water-soluble plant-derived actives in 100% vegetable capsules, it allows for moisturizing benefits in a powder. Skin-loving clean ingredients like Vegetable Squalane balances oil and hydrates, antioxidant-rich Wildcrafted Buriti and Organic Jojoba Oils nourish and defend against environmental stressors, while our advanced Gel2Powder technology provides the bouncy application

5 Ways To Use Setting Powder

Our New Hydra Setting Powder is so versatile it can be incorporated into any routine. Here are some ways our Artist Expert Lisa puts the powder to work.

1. Crease Proof Under Eyes
    • Under eyes have a tendency to crease or pick up mascara from blinking, which makes setting your under eye concealer all the more important.
    • Tip: “After applying your UnCoverup Concealer, I use the included puff to pat a little under the eyes.”
2. Control Shine
    • Keep the mid-day shine in check by prepping with Hydra Setting Powder from the start (ICYMI, it visibly reduces shine for 8 hours!).
    • Tip: “After foundation, I use the Skin2skin Powder Brush to sweep just a little through my T-zone.”
3. Go Neutral
    • For those no makeup days, Lisa loves a little powder on her lids.
    • Tip: “Even though the powders are sheer, I like how it can neutralize some of the pink on my eyelids.”
4. Get Set, Stay Dewy
      • If you love the staying power of a setting powder but still want a glow, try this combo.
      • Tip: “If I feel like I had a heavy hand applying the powder, then I like to spray the SuperSerum on my hands and pat it onto the face to add the dew back to the skin.”
    5. Lock In Lipstick
        • With a translucent finish, our Hydra Setting Powder is ideal for keeping lipstick in its place.
        • Tip: “After applying lipstick, put a tissue over the lips and use the Skin2Skin Powder Brush or the puff to lightly pat powder on the tissue. Then remove the tissue and apply another coat of lipstick and repeat the tissue and powder step.”
