"The words 'organic' and 'natural' turn up a lot in the beauty industry, but makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift created the real deal with her brand RMS Beauty. Years ago, various health issues led Swift to learn her blood contained toxic levels of lead, aluminum, barium, cadmium, mercury and pesticides, which could have been a result of working in the cosmetics industry. This inspired her to create a 100 per cent organic line of beauty products using food-grade ingredients. 'It was the health and environmental issues that drove me,' she says. 'Going against the status quo and asking why was always at the forefront of my inspiration.' It set the precedent for organic beauty brands,; after all, would you put anything on your face that you wouldn't put in your mouth?"
